Wild and Wacky! Fun and Ferocious!
The World’s Wild Life Has It All… and now you capture it…on film!
Mercantil Commercebank is proud to announce its 2011 Zoolens Photography Project, a month-long photography contest open to every 8th grade, public and private school student in Miami-Dade County that is designed to encourage students to gain a deeper appreciation of the world’s wild life through photography. The program is sponsored by Mercantil Commercebank, in partnership with Zoo Miami, the Zoological Society of Florida, and the North American Nature Photography Association.
What Do You Need To Do?
Participating 8th grade students will be asked to photograph an animal from Zoo Miami in an artistic manner and submit their entries along with a signed parent/legal guardian consent form through their teachers to the Mercantil Commercebank Zoolens Photography Project. Students may also bring their entries to any Mercantil Commercebank banking center. Forms may be downloaded from this website.
What Can You Win?
A group of expert judges will choose 3 final winners and 10 honorable mention entries. First prize is a $2,000 savings account, second prize is a $1,500 savings account and third prize is a $1,000 savings account. The top three winners will also receive a professional camera and a student membership to the North American Nature Photography Association! The 10 honorable mention entries will each receive $100. When Does This All Happen?
Eligible 8th grade students can participate in the Zoolens Photography Project from October 15-November 15. Photo entries must be submitted by Tuesday, November 15, 2011, on or about 5:30 p.m. EST and all prizes will be awarded at an Awards Ceremony in December (See Below for details). Students can also get additional information from their school.

Here’s what’s happening when:
| Saturday, October 15 |
Zoolens Kick-off event, noon to 2 pm. Come to Zoo Miami to enjoy music and entertainment from Y-100.

| Tuesday, November 15 |
Photo Entry Deadline on or about 5:30 p.m. EST (Photos may be submitted by teachers to the Mercantil Commercebank Zoolens Photography Project. Or, students may also bring their entries to any Mercantil Commercebank banking center.)

Awards Ceremony at Mercantil Commercebank Headquarters in Coral Gables (students, parents and teachers eligible to attend will receive an invitation to this fun-filled event) |
